Opposites in every way, nothing bad ever happens to That Guy and everything bad happens to This Guy. If This Guy thought he had it bad before now, he has no idea what is coming. And it all starts with a fruit basket and a dog bite.
Gab: Missing & Lying Labels
Many stores do not put Apeel labels on fruit that is coated with it. So, This Guy will never know if his fruit is safe or not. We have both missing labels and lying labels. Avocado oils and products supposedly made with avocado oils are laced with seed oils, including the mayo I have in my own fridge. A 2026 UC Davis study revealed that 89 percent of tested commercial products labeled as containing 100 percent avocado oil (including chips, salad dressings, and mayonnaise) were adulterated or diluted with cheaper oils like soybean, canola, or sunflower oil. Of 54 packaged foods tested 48 failed the testing, including 93 percent of chips, 71 percent of mayonnaise, and 100 percent of salad dressings. I rarely eat chips and only if they are made with olive oil. Unable to find salad dressings without seed oils I have also been making homemade salad dressings for many years. But now I must make my own mayo?
Relating to Howard Beale in the Network movie from the 1970s… “I am mad as hell, and I am not going to take it anymore!” I have been avoiding and encouraging my readers to avoid seed oils, and to read every label now for years, only to learn that I have been duped into eating contaminated mayonnaise that will now be in my cells for six years, disrupting cell energy production in my mitochondria. I am furious.

Back in the 1970s, my Home Economics teacher, Mrs. Lloyd had us students make our own mayonnaise. I thought it was crazy to make mayonnaise when you could buy it in a jar. I now see her wisdom. And I am making my own mayonnaise. Where to start? Today recipes in food magazines, cookbooks, and websites use seed oils. So, I have started collecting old cookbooks before seed oils were invented. And I found a great recipe, “Mayonnaise Dressing” in an old cookbook, The Southern Cookbook of Fine Old Recipes. Published in 1935, the recipe calls for olive oil. - Jan Walsh
